First Stop…Wine.
The very first stop on our journey was White Barrel Winery in Christiansburg, VA, and it really set the bar for the rest of the trip. This adorable tiny winery was not only cute, but the staff was beyond welcoming. The moment we pulled up in our home-on-wheels, a young man came outside to greet us and show us to our parking spot.
After maneuvering in the smaller parking lot and getting our home all set up (which in itself felt like a huge accomplishment) we moseyed on into the winery to check the place out and toast to the beginning of a new adventure. There were a surprising amount of people inside- considering we felt like we were in the middle of no where. The bartender immediately greeted us and treated us like we were VIP. She was very knowledgeable and gave us a run down of all their wines, which was a nice variety. After a few sips of a couple she recommended we made our decisions and ordered a light meal to snack on.
The patio was cozy and perfect to sip wine on while staring out into the vineyards that surrounded us.
It was a Sunday night so everyone cleared out fairly early. The staff was so kind and allowed us to enjoy their patio after they closed up.
Did we plan thing beautiful winery to be our first stop? Nope. Are we so glad we did? Yup! Did we know where we were going the next day? Again, nope.
